Undergraduate Program
Coleman
University's accelerated undergraduate programs provide students with
the qualifications necessary to begin a career in Information
Technology. Coleman's courses offer hands-on, practical training
emphasizing concepts and fundamental skills in the student's area of
specialization. Small classes give the students close interaction with
their instructors and classmates.
Coleman University's "major first" approach to education allows students
to take the technical courses in their major first, as part of their
specialized core program. Students earn a certificate upon completing
the core. Once students receive the certificate they can start the
CPT portion of the Co-op program through, while finishing the studies
for their undergraduate degree. These remaining courses are
completed in the evening while the student is progressing in his or her
CPT employment.
Coleman’s introverted education model prepares students for off campus
employment by requiring each student to complete the core courses to
obtain a certificate in either,
Computer Information Systems,
Computer Networks, or
Computer Graphic Design
prior to taking any general education courses as required for
graduation.
With the assistance of Coleman University, each undergraduate co-op
student will be allowed to select the most suitable option for
completing their bachelor degree.
The four program completion options are
Traditional, Accelerated, Maximum
Transfer, and Maximum
Accelerated. (See
visual chart with explanation and costs)
Traditional:
The length of the traditional program is 150 weeks long.
Students who select this option will take 1 core course every 10
weeks. As a result,
students who select this option are eligible to begin CPT employment at
the beginning of the 61st week.
Accelerated:
The length of the accelerated program is 120 weeks long.
Students who select this option will take 2 core courses every 10
weeks rather than the traditional option of 1 core course every 10
weeks. As a result,
students who select this option are eligible to begin CPT employment at
the beginning of the 31st week.
Maximum Transfer:
The length of the maximum transfer program is 100 weeks long.
Students who select this option will be allowed to transfer the
maximum number of core units as well as general education units as
permitted by the university.
Students will take 1 core course every 10 weeks and as a result
will be eligible to begin CPT employment at the beginning of the 51st
week.
Maximum Accelerated:
The length of the maximum accelerated program is 80 weeks long.
Students who select this option will be allowed to transfer the
maximum number of core units as well as general education units as
permitted by the university.
Students will take approximately 2 core courses every 10 weeks
and as a result will be eligible to begin CPT employment at the
beginning of the 31st week.
As a result of Coleman’s flexibility, students are awarded the
opportunity to complete their bachelor degree and begin CPT employment
at a pace suitable to each individual student.
